How May The Research Of Amino Acids Help The Humanity

Author : Mathew Petrenko

More than 750 amino acids have been discovered in Nature. There are two imaginary classes. The amino acids related to the first group may exist fully independently; others should be an ingredient of molecules. That may be peptide, esterified structure or even some kinds of proteins. The twenty amino acids which are used in living cells for protein synthesis being controlled by genes are in a special category since they are basic to all life forms as building blocks for peptides and proteins.

In chemistry, an amino acid is a molecule containing both amine and carboxyl functional classes. The basic forms of subsistence of amino acids are D or L (dextro and levo). There are no amino acids that can be superimposed as they are considered to be the mirror images.

The experiments show that L-class is significantly more frequently met. During the researches it was found that L-type non essential amino acids can be the components of eukaryotic proteins and D-amino acids are just he parts of cell walls in proteins.

There are two main groups of amino acids and they are essential and nonessential acids. Such class as essential or indispensable amino acids can not be produced by an organism and they need food supply. The other amino acid - histidine is believed semi-essential due to the organism doesn’t always require dietary sources of it.

Nonessential amino acids are made by the organism from the essential amino acids or normal breakdown of proteins.

The names of essential and nonessential classes do not mean the importance of these amino acids as 20 amino acids form these classes are used by the organism. The basic objective of alpha-amino acids is developing of building elements of proteins. Peptide bond holds some of the amino acid components which are developed during the action of dehydration synthesis together with the water released simultaneously by the identical process. The initial frame of the peptide is definite by the definite sequence of amino acid residues created in process mentioned before. The amount of various lines of the amino acids can not be estimated definitely as there are billions of variants. That may be compared with expressions which are created of letters.

There are lots of functions performed by amino acids in any organism. They help to control hormonal processes and perform some other actions.

Chemists constantly try to propose the perfect prescription of all the probable variants of amino acid composition but that is not as simple as it seems at the first glance. In case they manage to gain such knowledge there will be a nice chance to cure some significant illnesses. There are lots of laboratories form all over the world which attempt to determine the basic meaning of alpha amino acids and to create the model of their operations inside the organism as that knowledge can save a great deal of lives.

Author's Resource Box

The man’s body is a truly complex system that requires to be researched more properly and one of the most unstudied areas is non essential amino acids. Amino acids are believed to be significant components of peptides primary structure and other substances.
