The Most Amazing Area In The Eastern Europe

Author : Mathew Petrenko

Ukraine is a unitary state located in the south of Central Europe. There are 24 provinces which named “oblast” are comprised into this country, but there are also two urban districts which are considered to be separate provinces: the capital of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol. Ukraine became a semi-presidential republic only four years ago. That is the result of an orange revolution of 2004. Nowadays the system of government in this country has a very interesting structure: the authority is divided between several branches of authority. Ukraine has a common border with 10 countries. These countries are Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia. The country is mostly woodless plain with mountains in the Crimea and low Carpathian Mountains. Through the territory of Ukraine flows Dnieper, that is considered to be one of the longest rivers in Europe. This river gives the huge amount of hydroelectric power for Ukraine. Every winter there is much snow there but the climate is quite soft and temperature is not very low. The mild climate in summer consists of a huge amount of showery days, but there are many hot and dry days too.

Agriculture is the area which is quite developed in this region. It is produced by such favorable climate terms. Actually, Ukraine is believed to be an agricultural region which constantly exports sugar, corn, vegetables and other products to more than 110 countries. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was founded approximately in the 5th century and has got long and amazing history. All the Slavic civilizations have come from that city. It was established as a little trade town but it has developed into the incredible modern megapolis. After it was occupied by Mongols in the 13th century and completely destroyed, it lost its eminence for a long time. However, industrial revolution helped the city regain prominence. In times of the Soviet Union Kiev became the metropolis of Ukrainian Soviet Republic. Nowadays the population of Kiev is about 3 million people. According to the censuses the population is quickly growing year after year. Looking from the point of view of nationalities, the metropolis of Ukraine is very diverse. There are over 130 ethnic groups living in Kiev. In the second part of 20th century its population grew significantly as a result of development of real estate building in this city. Among blue and white blocks of flats appeared new downtown buildings. During several last years Kiev has received the status of full-fledged European city with many chic restraints and luxury hotels.

The economics of Ukraine is developing at constant rate. The increasing is also reflected in salaries which have also rose in real value about 20 percents per year from 2001 till 2007. All the countries included into WTO are willingly inviting Ukraine to become a participant of this union.
