The Reward of Having a Student Credit Card

If you are a full-time student, prospects are that on a regular day, you don't have access to a lot of cash. It can be rough to have a full-time job, or a high paying job while you're going to school. You've got to make good grades now so you can make the big money someday. But, in the mean time you're whipped for cash. Most of the time, you don't need a good deal of money, but you do need to have a backing plan in case an unlucky issue pops up. Your auto might break, or you might not have sufficient cash to pay for your books. You might even have to make trip to the hospital, and even if you have insurance, sometimes you're required to pay a particular fee to have care. For all of these situations, it helps to have a credit card available. Credit cards can be a safe net for a student who doesn't have ready access to funds in the case of an emergency or unexpected event.

Student credit cards can be, and are often abused. But they can be used responsibly, and are often a essential part of college living. In order to use your student credit card responsibly, make a pact with yourself that you will not use the card to pay for unnecessary purchases like meals out, the latest CDs and fashions, and impulse purchases. Sometimes, though, a credit card can help you feed yourself at the end of a particularly tight month, or if you need to buy a presentable outfit for an interview. Credit cards can be used to pay for necessaries, but try to pay outstanding balances off as soon as doable, or you'll be paying a lot more later.
