Cellulitis is a bacterial infection on the skin that is caused by S.Aureus bacteria. This bacterium causes Staphyllococcal infection. Usually the skin protects the body from any types of infections. The bacteria enters into the body through the skin that is cut, broken, burnt or exposed due to surgical wound, insect bites, boils etc. If the treatment is not done on time, the bacteria spreads quickly underneath the skin and infects other body parts like face, arms, legs, feet etc. thereby making the treatment tougher and complex. Cellulitis is commonly found on lower legs and facial skin, however it can affect any part of the body also. Initial symptoms of Cellulitis infection starts with tenderness on a small portion of the infected skin, which starts swelling after some days, and later on becomes sore and red. The red portion starts increasing and the person experiences high fever with sweats and chills. Some elder adults get infected by Cellulitis without any skin damage as they have a weak immune system. People who suffer from diabetes may also be infected by this painful skin infection. Such people have greater chances to develop severe problems due to cellulitis which may be difficult to treat.

Treatment of cellulitis:

Any medical practitioner or dermatologist will prescribe antibiotics to control the infection. Generally antibiotics that include flucloxacillin and cephalexin are prescribed and if these oral medications prove to be ineffective, a person may be given antibiotics through veins. They may also prescribe some pain-killers to ease the pain due to inflammation of the skin. Along with the highly effective antibiotics and painkillers, a person can follow a few suggestions to control and ultimately elevate this skin infection.

- Apart from medical treatments, a person suffering from cellulitis may also need to change his or her lifestyle.
- Controlling on eating habits, exercises to improve blood circulation as well as regular walks are the most common ways to reduce the infection.
- It is also advised that the person to change their dressing style, for example, he or she may be asked to wear full sleeves or full pants to cover the infected areas from direct sun rays which cause extreme discomfort, the clothing may also protect the infected area from risky areas like garden or lawns etc.
- Maintaining proper hygiene and keeping the body as well as the infected area clean is another way to help gets rid of the infection along with prescribed antibiotics. Cleaning the wound with mild medicated soap and clean water and apply antibiotic cream to prevent formation of further bacteria. A person may also keep his or her body and infected areas moisturized with medical moisturizers.
- Moreover, a person may also keep the nails tended, avoid any injury on infected areas and try to treat the infected hands and feet as soon as possible.

Thus, antibiotics along with proper care and hygiene will surely help you cure the skin infection as well as prevent the spread of cellulitis on other parts of body. However one needs to follow the doctor's instructions carefully so as to get rid of this problem forever.
