British White Cattle are becoming the breed of choice for many of today's progressive cattle farmers. British Whites have elevated themselves above the old accepted idea that they were mainly just a status symbol of medieval Britain. The modern breed of British White Cattle has many qualities and traits that elevate them above many other beef cattle breeds.

Quality meat and excellent milk producing traits are well know in the British White Cattle Breed of beef cattle. These traits have made it an easy selection in today's cattle industry to propagate the breed towards a high quality beef breed. The trend is away from their long ago dairy traits

British White Cattle are a white breed with black ears, eyes, nose and hooves. They are extremely good at passing these color traits on to their offspring. It is not at all unusual for a solid black animal to produce a half blood British White with the standard British White color markings. These traits lend themselves to making an ideal choice for any size farm or ranch. They are easy to look at, easy to handle and profitable.

A naturally polled breed is the choice of most beef cattle ranchers and this fits the British White cattle breed. The offspring of a horned animal and a homozygous polled animal will be polled. Polled cattle always seem to sell higher on the commercial market and are less dangerous in close quarters.

A gentle breed with good temperament. They are one of the gentlest cattle of any breed. This makes them an ideal choice of cattle farmers. Their easy and docile nature makes them perform better on feed and carcass comparison. This good temperament and high degree of intelligence makes them easy to handle on farms as well as in close quarters.

They possess fertility and ease in calving. The British White Cattle may possibly be the most fertile of all beef breeds. Hence they prove quite profitable and beneficial to livestock producers. British Whites are reputed for their calving ease. They have the excellent trait of producing a calf on a regular basis.

British White Cattle are excellent mothers. They use the common nursery system to protect their calves. This is where one cow stands guard while the rest graze and she rotates with another cow for the next grazing session.

British White Cattle produce excellent quality meat. The meat is very lean, tender and tasty. It has very little fat. A hanging carcass to live weight ratio of 60 percent or more is common. It has high grading and dressing quality.

The cattle are efficient and trouble free. British white cattle efficiently convert feed into pounds of gain or maintenance. The British White breed is naturally resistant to many diseases like tuberculosis and viral pneumonia. The black ears, eyes, nose, teats and hooves reduce or eliminate pinkeye, cancer of the eye and feet problems. It is very tolerant to heat or cold and this helps them to grow even in harsh climatic conditions.

Longevity or ability to live a long and productive life span is a natural trait of the British White Cow. You will find many of them still producing at the ripe old age of 20 years. And since they are known to have a long life span it goes without saying that they will also make consistent contributions towards a profitable operation.

Why not try a British White bull if you are running a commercial crossbred herd. When bred to a British White bull cows will have an easy time calving and produce calves that hit the ground growing. You will be really pleased with your calf crop.
